The J&K government released a notification on Monday stating that the devotees need to furnish Aadhaar authentication on a voluntary basis.

According to an official statement quoted by the ANI, “All the work is to be completed within the set timeline and officials to ensure optimum use of technology to make the yatra safer and more convenient for the pilgrims.”

“All senior officials to periodically inspect the security and every aspect of world-class arrangements, transport, lodging, sanitation, electricity, water, communication, health, convenience shops, food courts, vending zones etc for Amarnath yatris,” it added.

Dilbag Singh, Director-General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, also toured Yatra camps in Ramban on Wednesday, including FC Mir-bazaar, Walnut Factory Qazigund, and Lamber, and assessed security measures for pilgrims.

Notably, this year, pilgrims can also take use of direct helicopter service from Srinagar to the yatra.

The pilgrimage to the cave shrine in the high mountains of south Kashmir is expected to draw almost three lakh people.

While online registration has already begun, the trip is set to last 43 days, from June 30 to August 11.
