Assam Police seizes 927 kg ganja from Karimganj

In two separate occurrences on Monday at the Churaibari region in Assam's Karimganj district near the Assam-Tripura border, Assam Police reportedly confiscated 927 kg of marijuana.
In two separate occurrences on Monday at the Churaibari region in Assam’s Karimganj district near the Assam-Tripura border, Assam Police reportedly confiscated 927 kg of marijuana.
A squad from the Churaibari police watch station confiscated the marijuana. Earlier on Saturday, 860 kg of marijuana and 40.70 grammes of suspected heroin were taken from a truck in the Karbi Anglong district by the Assam Police and Central Reserve Police Force in a combined operation.
Regarding this seizure, the police detained three people.
According to John Das, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bokajan, a Naka checking was set up at Laharijan, close to the Assam-Nagaland border, under the control of Khatkhati police station, after acting on confidential information.
“A truck travelling from Manipur was stopped at around two in the morning. After a thorough search of the vehicle, it was discovered to have three soap boxes carrying 40.70 grammes of suspected heroin and 80 packets of marijuana, totaling 860 kilogrammes. In this regard, three people have been detained “said Das.
Rahul Tamang (24), Filter Kalita (32), and Dipak Mahato (26), were the people that were detained (19).
