Assam Flood Latest: Slight Improvement as 33 lakh still affected in 28 districts

The overall flood situation in Assam has improved, but over 33.03 lakh people in 28 districts remain impacted by the natural disaster, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Saturday.
According to ASDMA, 117 people have perished in the state this year as a result of floods and landslides; 100 died in floods alone, while the remaining 17 died as a result of landslides. According to accounts, at least ten individuals, including four children, drowned in floodwaters in the previous 24 hours.
According to the study, 8.76 lakh people have been impacted in the Barpeta district alone, followed by 5.08 lakh in Nagaon, 4.01 lakh in Kamrup, and 2.76 lakh in Cachar, 2.16 in Karimganj, 1.84 lakh in Dhubri, and 1.70 lakh in the Darrang region of Assam.
Notably, 3,510 communities within the state’s 93 revenue circles, as well as over 91,700 hectares of agriculture, are still under water.
ASDMA said that 2,65,788 persons impacted by flood water are still staying in 717 relief camps put up by the administration of 22 districts in the state.
Two drones have been deployed in Silchar, Cachar district, to carry out flood inundation mapping and to deliver relief items in inaccessible areas.
85.2 MT of GR products, including packaged drinking water and grains, were airlifted from Guwahati and Jorhat to Silchar.
Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), as well as SDRF, Fire and Emergency personnel, the Police Force, and AAPDA MITRA Volunteers are assisting district administrations with rescue operations and relief deliveries.
The latest floods have affected around 1.42 lakh people in 155 villages under the Raha revenue circle.
Preschool activities have been held at the relief camp itself in the Nagaon area. “We are requiring children to engage in preschool activities at the relief camp (Nagaon), such as morning prayers, physical exercises, and sketching. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has already visited this camp ” NP Doley, supervisor of Integrated Child Development Services.
The flood situation in the Kampur region of Assam’s Nagaon district has improved marginally, however several places inside the Kampur revenue circle remain under water.
Many buildings, roads, bridges, and embankments in Kampur revenue circle regions were devastated by the disastrous flood.
