The Bihar government has decided to hold an all-party meeting in Patna on June 1 to discuss the issue of caste-based censuses.
The Bihar government has decided to hold an all-party meeting in Patna on June 1 to discuss the issue of caste-based censuses.
Bihar’s Education Minister, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, confirmed the news. He stated that the meeting for the caste-based census has been agreed upon by all political parties.
“Our Chief Minister has already stated that a meeting on the caste-based census will take place in Patna very soon.” The date has now been set as June 1. Every party has agreed on a date, and we hope that the leaders of all parties will provide valuable suggestions on this issue,” Chaudhary said.
“The meeting will be held at 4 Desh Ratna Marg in Patna at 4 p.m.,” Chaudhary said.
Nitish Kumar previously stated that he supports a meeting on May 27. Except for the BJP, all parties in Bihar, including the RJD, JD-U, Congress, left parties, HAM, and AIMIM, agreed on a caste-based census. The BJP was stuck with its central leadership’s decision not to conduct a caste-based census in the country.
Despite this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already stated that states are free to conduct caste-based censuses at their own expense.
As Nitish Kumar stands firm in his decision to conduct a caste-based census in Bihar, the BJP stepped down on Monday and expressed its support for the issue. The BJP think tank believes that if they oppose caste-based censuses in Bihar, Nitish Kumar will break with the BJP and form a government with the RJD.
