BJP leader’s ‘sexist’ jibe at Nitish Kumar earns Congress’ backlash. After several BJP officials criticised the Bihar Chief Minister on numerous fronts, Kailash Vijayvargiya offered an odd perspective on the abrupt breakup of the partnership with Nitish Kumar. “I once heard that ladies abroad may switch boyfriends at any time while I was travelling. Similar to the Chief Minister of Bihar, he never knows whose hand he would clasp or release “said Mr. Vijayvargiya, the party’s national general secretary, on Thursday in Indore. His audience roared with laughter in response to his comments.

Mr. Vijayvargiya, who is infamous for his hasty remarks, sparked a debate in June when he suggested using “Agniveers” as security guards at the party office. Later, he stated that the “toolkit gang” had misinterpreted his comments. The BJP leader was hammered for his comments by a number of opposition parties, who were having a field day.

Last Monday, Mr. Kumar severed his ties with the BJP.

The BJP initially claimed that it wasn’t fully unexpected and that they hadn’t made any attempts to stop it. Later on, though, Tarkishore Prasad, a former deputy chief minister of Bihar, acknowledged that the party’s chief strategist Amit Shah had in fact tried to get Mr. Kumar to back down and save the coalition.

Mr. Kumar, though, who believes that Mr. Shah is attempting to splinter his party in the same way that the BJP splintered the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra and ousted the Uddhav Thackeray administration, was unconvinced.

Randeep Surjewala, a Congress politician, uploaded the Vijayvargiya video on Twitter with the caption, “An example of BJP general secretary exhibiting respect for women.”
