Vijay Deverakonda-led movie “Liger” has apparently become the next victim of the boycott Bollywood movement in Southern film industry.
The next sports drama, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, is helmed by Puri Jagannadh and also has Ananya Panday in the major role. It is scheduled to hit theatres on August 25. But even before that, the hashtag “#BoycottLigerMovie” became popular on Twitter. Netizens requesting the ban on “Liger” are giving a variety of justifications. Telugu movie is being boycotted primarily as a result of Karan Johar’s involvement.
A user posted, “I’m going to skip the movie. There should be no connection between you and KJO or anybody else from Bollywood. Boycott Liger Movie, Liger, Bollywood, and everything of Indian cinema forever and forever.”
Another user commented, “Hello, Vijay You have no idea why people boycott. Because Bollywood consistently disrespects our culture and because its actors frequently make hurtful things. A person who considers himself a star. #BoycottLigerMovie “
A third individual wrote, “#BoycottLigerMovie Anyone who tries to defend this disgusting URDUWOOD will be immediately added to the list of BOYCOTTERS! We want good content and nationalist movies, not to give charity to their families!”
After “Lal Singh Chhadha,” “Raksha Bandhan,” “Dobaara,” and the upcoming “Pathaan,” this is yet another film that netizens have called to boycott for a variety of reasons.
In regards to “Liger,” the filmmakers are now running a brisk campaign despite various setbacks brought on by COVID-19. The movie’s music and trailer were debuted by Dharma Productions, and the crowd reacted well to both. Both Vijay and Ananya make their feature film debuts in Hindi with this production.
