According to sources, the Border Security Force (BSF) forces in Ferozepur, Punjab, recovered a sizable stockpile of weapons and ammunition.
According to a BSF official release, “troops of BOP Jagdish, ex-136 Bn, Sector Ferozpur (Distt Ferozpur), Punjab found a bag during a search along the zero line carrying guns and ammunition.” The recovery was accomplished at about 7:00 PM, on Thursday.
The authorities found three AK-47 weapons with six empty magazines, three mini-AK-47 rifles (brand unknown) with five empty magazines, and three Beretta-style pistols with six empty magazines. Additionally, the BSF seized 200 rounds of ammunition (100 rounds of the rifle, and 100 rounds of the pistol).
According to BSF, the Punjab Police has been notified for further action.
A wrapped bundle of weapons that had arrived from Pakistan’s side had been found earlier in September 2022 by the BSF and Punjab police at the field of a local farmer in the Ferozepur district, close to the India-Pakistan border.
In the Ferozepur district, a packet containing an AK-47 and two magazines were discovered close to the Arif Ke police station. All the found weapons were taken by BSF. “A1” was scribbled over the package, which was imported from the other side of the border.
