Stocks to Watch Today on August 19, 2025: Markets Set for a Positive Start, But Global Cues Stay Mixed

The Indian markets is set to kick off on a positive note today as well. As the GIFT Nifty futures were last up by more than 20 points, at around 24,988, suggesting a mildly upbeat open for the Nifty and stock market today.

Around the globe, the picture’s a bit mixed as global market has guven a mixed signal.

For future investments, Investors are now looking ahead to the US Federal Reserve’s Jackson Hole meeting. The meeting is scheduled later this week. This will results in as any hints about future rate moves could shake things up across markets, so there’s some caution in the air.

In Asian markets today, China’s CSI 300 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng saw small gains, but Japan’s Nikkei, South Korea’s Kospi, and Australia’s ASX 200 slipped into the red.

Overnight on Wall Street, it was a quiet session to watch. The Dow and S&P 500 ended slightly lower, while the Nasdaq inched just a bit higher.

All eyes will be now on how the Indian market opens and if it can hold that early strength.

  Tata Steel Advanced Materials has divested its entire equity and preference stake in Ceramat (CPL) to Lionstead Applied Materials. CPL will no longer be a subsidiary.
• Reliance Industries (RIL)
  Reliance Consumer Products, the FMCG arm of RIL, has entered the healthy beverage market by acquiring a majority stake in a joint venture with Naturedge Beverages.
• Vedanta
  The board will meet on August 21 to consider a second interim dividend. The record date is August 27, 2025.
• Vodafone Idea
  Vodafone Idea is looking at non-banking funding sources for its capital expenditure, as banks await clarity on the AGR issue.
• JSW Steel
  Signed an agreement with South Korea’s Posco to explore setting up a 6 million tonnes per annum integrated steel plant in India, with Odisha as a top location candidate.

  IHCL signed a deal with Madison to operate 10 new Ginger hotels across southern India.
• Swiggy
  Partnered with EV company Bounce to use electric scooters for deliveries across multiple cities.
• Escorts Kubota
  Received 200 acres of land from YEIDA to set up a ₹4,500 crore tractor manufacturing unit.
• Rites Ltd
  Aims to reach a ₹10,000 crore order book by FY26 by expanding its scope and bidding for larger projects.
• LIC
  Launched a nationwide campaign (Aug 18–Oct 17) to revive lapsed policies, offering up to 30% concession on late fees.
• Hindustan Zinc
  Board approved a ₹3,823 crore investment for a zinc tailings reprocessing plant in Rajasthan.
• ONGC
  ONGC’s R&D arm entered an agreement with Engineers India Ltd to build a Helium Recovery Demonstration Plant in Tamil Nadu.
• MTNL
  Reported an increase in loan defaults, with outstanding dues to public sector banks rising to ₹8,659 crore as of July 31, 2025.
• Goldiam International
  Approved a ₹202 crore qualified institutional placement, issuing 61.22 lakh shares at ₹330 each to investors like Morgan Stanley.

  Received final USFDA approval for its generic Tretinoin Cream USP (0.025%).
