Anubrata Mondal, president of TMC Birbhum district and a well-known ally of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday in connection with the cattle smuggling case.
Now a medical checkup is being performed on the TMC leader. A CBI team visited Mondal’s home in Bolpur, Birbhum, earlier today.
According to reports, Mondal received a summons from Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on August 5 to appear for questioning in relation to a livestock smuggling case.
Earlier on Monday, August 8, Mondal was requested to appear before the CBI headquarters at Nizam’s Palace in Kolkata.
A former Border Security Force (BSF) Commandant was detained by the CBI on September 21, 2020, in connection with transporting livestock illegally across the Indo-Bangladesh border.
According to the sources, Anubrata Mondal’s name was scrutinised throughout the course of the case’s inquiry.
