Lalu Prasad Yadav’s former Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Bhola Yadav, was detained by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday in connection with an alleged land-for-job scheme.
Four places in Bihar are currently the subject of searches. Lalu Yadav, his wife, and his daughters were among those identified as defendants in a FIR that CBI filed earlier this May in the “land for railway job” case.
Earlier on May, CBI searched 17 places in Delhi and Bihar that belonged to Lalu Yadav and his family.
The alleged swindle allegedly occurred between 2004 and 2009, when Yadav served as Railway Minister.
According to FIR, a number of individuals were substitutely hired into group D positions in various Railway zones from 2004 to 2009 in return for land by unidentified Public Servants of Indian Railway, who then regularised the system.
More specifically, it was claimed that unidentified employees of Indian Railways disregarded departmental directives for appointment of substitutes to Group D posts that were in effect at the time.
