According to reports, the ministry of culture had instructed the ASI to excavate the landmark monument in order to conduct iconography of idols and ascertain the structure's facts.

Following allegations that excavation in Delhi’s renowned Qutub Minar complex had been ordered, Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy remarked, “No such decision has been taken.”

According to previous reports, the ministry of culture had instructed the ASI to excavate the landmark monument in order to conduct iconography of idols and determine the structure’s facts.

According to sources, an ex-ASI officer said that the Qutub Minar was not built by Qutb al-Din Aibak, but rather by Raja Vikramaditya to study the Sun’s direction.

Similarly, Vinod Bansal, a spokesman for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), recently claimed that Delhi’s famed building Qutub Minar was actually “Vishnu Stambh.” He said that the monument was constructed using materials salvaged from the demolition of 27 Hindu-Jain temples.
