The tragedy occurred the day after another class 12 student from Virudhachalam in the Cuddalore area was discovered deceased at her house. This month, there have been 5 similar events in Tamil Nadu.
A 16-year-old girl is said to have passed away earlier at the private school’s Kallakurichi dormitory grounds. Parents of the girl suspected foul play, but police said she committed suicide.
Another incident that has been reported in the state included a Class 12 girl who allegedly committed suicide in her dorm room at a government-sponsored institution in Tiruvallur district.
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin expressed his sorrow over the recent wave of student suicides on Tuesday and added that he thought schools should teach children how to deal with “obstacles fearlessly.”
In addition, Chief Minister advised students to resist suicide ideas no matter how challenging the circumstances.
