Congress party has planned to organise Chaupals around the nation as part of its stepped-up campaign against the federal government on the issues of price increases, GST on some packaged foods, and unemployment in the nation.
Starting on August 17 and running through August 23, party will stage a series of protest gatherings in different regions of the nation, including agricultural, mandi, and retail markets. Starting August 28, protest march will come to an end in Ramleela Maidan in Delhi.
According to a statement by Congress General Secretary and Communication Incharge Jairam Ramesh, party’s statewide protest against the present administration’s what it called “anti-people” policies on August 5 had a significant impact on the populace.
Ramesh claimed that the BJP government’s nervousness at its inability to rein in spiralling inflation and unemployment is only highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s effort to characterise genuine protest as “black magic.”
June was the sixth consecutive month that India’s retail inflation rate above the Reserve Bank of India’s upper tolerance zone of 6%. In June, the retail inflation rate was 7.01 percent.
Inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) has now reached double digits for 15 consecutive months.
The next protests are intended by the Congress party to further this conflict.
Ramesh continued by saying that “India’s populace is suffering as a result of the Modi administration’s poor economic management. Higher tariffs on basic commodities like curd, buttermilk, and packaged food grains are aggravating inflation, while the introduction of the foolish Agnipath programme and the transfer of public assets to crony capitalists are worsening the job situation.”
Indian National Congress will keep raising awareness among the populace about these anti-people measures and putting further pressure on the BJP administration to reverse course.
