COVID-19 cases in India drop, positivity rate drops by 18%

11 lakh doses of vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours, around 1.25 lakh booster doses were given to those between the age group 18-59.
India recorded 13,086 COVID-19 cases today, 18% less cases than the day before. The number of active cases has crossed the 1.14 lakh mark, 19 new deaths were also recorded in the last 24 hours.
As per sources, Jharkhand recorded its first Covid-19 related death in five months on Monday. Delhi recorded more than 400 new cases and one death in the last 24 hours, bringing the positivity rate to 5.25 per cent. The number of active cases in Maharashtra on Monday were 1,515 , out of which Mumbai accounted for 431 cases, Thane for 472 cases and Nashik for 71 cases.
Number of active cases in Bengal were 1,132 on Monday, the positivity in the state rate rose from 14.10 per cent to 15.12 per cent. Telangana saw 443 fresh COVID-19 cases while Gujarat logged 419 cases, Madhya Pradesh recorded 108 new cases, 75 cases in Goa and 58 in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the positivity rate of India stood at 2.90 per cent on Tuesday, whereas the weekly positivity rate stood above 3.80 per cent.
As per sources, 12,456 people are said to have recovered in a single day, rising the recovery rate to 98.53 per cent. As per sources, Union Health Minister Mandaviya said on6 Monday that over 90 per cent of the adults in the country have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The total number of vaccine doses administered in country rose to 198 crore.
