A total number of Covid-19 vaccination doses given across the nation reached 208.95 crore on Thursday, with over 12 crore precautionary doses given up to 7 am on August 18.

A total number of Covid-19 vaccination doses given across the nation reached 208.95 crore on Thursday, with over 12 crore precautionary doses given up to 7 am on August 18.

According to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announcement, “208.95 cr Total Vaccine Doses (93.86 cr Second Dose and 12.92 cr Precaution Dose) have been delivered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive, with 38,64,471 doses administered in the previous 24 hours.”

However, 12,608 additional cases have been reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases in the nation to 1,01,343.

With 16,251 recoveries in the past day bringing the country’s total recoveries to 4,36,70,315, India’s recovery rate is presently at 98.58%.

According to other statistics stated in the announcement, the daily positivity rate was (3.48%) and the weekly positivity rate was (4.20%).

It also provided information on the tests performed to find COVID, the cost of which is astonishing at 88.14 cr 3,62,020 tests were administered on the previous day, out of the total tests taken thus far.

Dr. VK Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, stated on Wednesday that pandemic is still ongoing and urged the public to raise vaccination rates for the precautionary dosage.

Healthcare professionals were the first to get inoculated on January 16, 2016, when the countrywide immunisation campaign officially launched. On February 2 of last year, frontline employees started receiving vaccinations.
