At the Arena Birmingham, Tokyo Olympian Pranati Nayak scored 13.600 on her first vault attempt and 12.950 on her second try for an average of 13.275. With an average of 13.500, Shannon Archer of Scotland placed first in the vault rankings. However, Protistha Samanta, a fellow countrywoman of Pranati Nayak, lost out since she placed tenth with an average of 11.950 in the vault event and only the top eight competitors advanced to the next round in apparatus events.
Ruthuja Nataraj earned a total of 46.250 points by scoring 12.300 in the vault, 11.950 on the uneven bars, 11.350 on the balancing beam, and 10.650 on the floor exercise.
Pranati Nayak earned a total of 43.500 points for using all four gadgets well. Protistha Samanta only competed in vault equipment.
The women’s team trio of Pranati Nayak, Protistha Samanta, and Ruthuja Nataraj withdrew after placing last out of nine teams with a cumulative score of 102.650.
Yogeshwar Singh was the lone Indian to advance to the finals in the men’s artistic gymnastics at Birmingham 2022 on Friday after placing 18th in the all-around competition.
Saif Tamboli, Satyajit Mondal, and Yogeshwar Singh, a male artistic gymnastics trio from India, withdrew from the men’s team competitions.
Birmingham 2022 all-around finals for both men and women will take place on Sunday. Monday is the planned day for the vault finals.
