The high-stakes Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections will be held on Sunday, with the results being counted on December 7. The campaign for the same came to a conclusion on Friday. According to the State Election Commission, a large workforce of election officials and security agencies has worked tirelessly to prepare for elections at 13,638 polling stations across Delhi.
Furthermore, officials said 68 model voting sites and an equal number of pink polling stations have been allocated in New Delhi ahead of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections on Sunday.
The Delhi State Election Commission released a list of these 136 voting booths on Saturday. Officials stated that the special polling stations are intended to provide one-of-a-kind arrangements for women, the elderly, and people with disabilities, among others, in order to encourage voter participation in the 250-ward MCD polls.
As the high stake MCD elections are to be held, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday promises it would regularise the weekly marketplaces of the national capital’s eight lakh street vendors after its win.
Meanwhile, according to an official notification, Delhi government schools were closed today due to election preparations.
The Excise Department of the national capital has announced that alcohol sales will be prohibited in Delhi for three days beginning Friday evening.
Earlier on Friday, Special CP (Law & Order) Sagar Preet Hooda stated that all security and surveillance arrangements for the MCD elections have been prepared by the Delhi Police.
