To commemorate 30 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and India, the Israeli Embassy in India teamed with Indian designer Sahil Kochhar to present a unique collection for both men and women inspired by Israel’s stunning landscapes.
This effort is part of the ‘Yachad’ campaign, which is a Hebrew term that means ‘together.’ On August 17, an event was held in Delhi to commemorate the anniversary, during which Israeli Embassy officials and project members from India exchanged ideas and shared their experiences.
“This is a first-of-its-kind project, which we believe will open doors for future opportunities and cooperation between the people of Israel and India in the many domains of culture, fashion, and lifestyle,” stated H.E. Naor Gilon, Ambassador of Israel to India. Showcasing Indian artwork inspired by Israeli landscapes resulted in this lovely endeavour, which has enhanced our two countries’ close relationship and increasing collaboration.”
“Yachad” means coming together, according to designer Sahil Kochhar, and that is the spirit of this extraordinary partnership. It commemorates 30 years of friendship between Israel and India. This collection and the campaign we created around it are particularly meaningful to me because they reflect the coming together of two wonderful civilizations. The collection is inspired by Israel’s various landscapes, which are included as artwork on the garments.”
The designer and his team spent several months exploring Israeli talents that are the greatest at their trade for this campaign. The models chosen were not just professional models, but also local talent from all around Israel, including the younger generation from many walks of life, sports, artists, surfers, and the country’s parkour community.
The Embassy used this effort to depict an Israel that the Indian people may be unfamiliar with. The fashion shoot was conducted in several locations around Israel, including the Dead Sea, Eilat, Gan Hashlosha, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem.
