Continuing to set fire at the box office even after six days in India, Rajinikanth’s Coolie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj has raked in over Rs 216 crore. Though it is a weekday, the action eventually electrifies the audience along with a star-studded cast in theaters, marking it the blockbuster of 2025. The craze for the movie is still out of control, making Coolie an obvious winner in the box office battle with War 2.

Unstoppable Rajinikanth: Record-Breaking Start

Coolie hit the screens on August 14, 2025, with a whopping Rs 65 crore opening, this was the biggest domestic opener Rajinikanth has had. Globally, the film raked in ₹151 crore on its first day, breaching records put by heavyweights like Jawan and Animal.

By day 6, Coolie has raked Rs 9.50 crore in India, surpassing Rs 400 crore worldwide, all chiefly driven by unprecedented advance bookings and overpopulated celebrations of fans. Thalaiva’s blockbuster witnessed 24.70% Hindi occupancy on Day 6. August 19, 2025. With 32% occupancy in NCR and 29% in Mumbai, Coolie is going to break all the records.

Despite mixed reviews, Rajinikanth’s persona, which is indeed larger-than-life, and portrayal of Deva, a former coolie union leader, kept audiences engrossed, with theaters in Chennai and Coimbatore reporting almost full.

Weekday Dip but Steady Momentum

Coolie faced the inevitable post-Independence Day dip, but despite the slowdown the film is unstoppable in Box Office collection. Day 5 was reported at around Rs 12 crore, and day 6 has now brought in Rs 9.50 crore-a decline from Sunday, which had netted Rs 35.25 crore.

Yet, the film’s total India net stands solid at Rs 216 crore, surpassing rival War 2 (Rs 192.75 crore). The Tamil markets are still the backbone arm with 32.18% occupancy on day 6 while Telugu and Hindi versions hold firm. On the other hand, this indicates that it will be able to sustain double-digit earnings on a weekday, but it still trails behind Chhaava and Saiyaara in the top-grossers of 2025.

Can Coolie Break All-Time Records?

Coolie has already amassed an admirable sum of Rs 400 crore in these six days worldwide and expects to make ₹600 crores, only two Tamil films have ever achieved that milestone, Rajinikanth’s own 2.0 and Jailer.

A cameo from Aamir Khan and a thrumming score by Anirudh Ravichander seem to bring in the star power, but weekday collections would be key to sustaining any kind of run. Can Coolie dethrone Leo’s domestic record of Rs 341 crores? Will War 2 takeover Coolie? Fans are buzzed!
