After the US assassinated the most wanted terrorist in an air strike in Kabul, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) updated the profile picture of Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri on its website with the words “dead.”
According to US President Joe Biden, Zawahiri was killed on Saturday in an Afghan drone attack. Before his death was reported, Zawahiri’s profile could be found on the FBI website.
On Monday (local time), US President Joe Biden stated that “Justice has been delivered” in a televised speech.
Al-Zawahiri, one of the most wanted terrorists in the world and the planner of the September 11 attacks, was killed on Saturday in a US drone strike in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.
In a video speech, Biden made a statement from White House’s Blue Room Balcony “The emir of al-Qa’ida, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was fatally struck by an American bombing on Saturday in Kabul, Afghanistan, which was carried out on my orders. This terrorist leader has been removed from power after justice was served.”
Since he is no longer with us, we will make sure that nothing else occurs. “He will never again, never again, let Afghanistan become a terrorist safe haven,” he continued.
In addition to playing a key role in the planning of 9/11, Zawahiri, an Egyptian surgeon, served as Osama Bin Laden’s personal doctor.
