At interfaith harmony meeting in New Delhi, Security Advisor Ajit Doval, said “there are a few people who, in the name of religion or any other belief system, are resorting to violence and creating mistrust between different communities”. “It is affecting the entire country while spilling over outside the country too” he added.

The All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council (AISSC) organised the meeting and passed a resolution banning religious organisation like the Popular Front of India (PFI) involved in radicalism.

“We can’t be mute spectators. We have to organise and raise voices, improve on the mistakes. We’ve to make every sect of India feel that we are a country together, we are proud of it and that every religion can be professed with freedom here,” Doval said in meeting.

Doval said in the meeting: “If we have to challenge this atmosphere (of animosity), then the biggest need is that we have to, within our country, in our own home, be alert and keep intact our unity, and make progress as a unified country. The country has made progress with speed in the last couple of years, and the profit of this progress will be reaped by all religious communities”.

He added, “But there are many forces that are trying to create an atmosphere of negativism which obstructs the progress of the nation… There are a few people who, in the name of religion or any other belief system, are resorting to violence and creating mistrust between different communities. This affects the whole country – within the country as well as internationally”.

AISSC founder-chairman Hazrat Syed Nasiruddin Chishty discussed major issues with the NSA and then passed a resolution.

“We condemn when an incident occurs. It’s time to do something. Need of the hour is to rein in and ban radical organisations. Be it any radical organisation, including the Popular Front of India (PFI), they should be banned if there is evidence against them,” Hazrat Syed Naseruddin Chishty said.

He told that the leaders discussed measures to combat radicalism in the country and AISSC will initiate a nation wide movement soon.
