In 2012 BJP leader BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed the first complaint in a trial court alleging financial irregularities by Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others, during the acquisition of Associated Journals Limited (AJl).

On the other hand, Congress alleged that the current government has brought new officials to open the case which was closed by ED in 2015. Congress also alleged that the Central agencies are being used by the current government to attack the opposition.

However, BJP has rejected such a claim, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said “government agency is doing their job”.
