Amit Shah commended the government on Friday for approving the 'Agnipath' initiative for the benefit of the country's young
Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the government for approving the ‘Agnipath’ initiative for the benefit of the country’s young, highlighting that the recruiting process in the Indian Army had been hampered for the previous two years owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a tweet today, Amit Shah stated “For the past two years, the Army’s recruitment process has been hampered by the COVID-19 epidemic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji cares about youth via the ‘Agneepath Yojana.’ The government has shown compassion by opting to raise the age restriction for Agniveer recruitment from 21 to 23 years this time. “
Shah’s tweet went on to say, “This decision, as well as the Agnipath initiative, will assist a significant number of young people. They will continue on their path of service to the country and a bright future. Thank you, Prime Minister @narendramodi ji.”
The government recently introduced the Agnipath Scheme in an effort to reform the recruiting procedure for the Armed Forces. With the new military recruitment programme facing opposition, the Centre has decided to modify the maximum age restriction for recruiting Agniveers.
Centre declared on June 16, 2022, that the Agniveer upper age restriction for recruitments via the Agnipath Scheme has been raised to 23 years from 21 years, as a one-time waiver.
