Gujarat poll results: BJP leads on 42 seats

Initial trends in the counting of ballots for the Gujarat Assembly elections, which began today early morning, now shows BJP leading on 42 seats, while the Congress leading on six seats.

Initial trends in the counting of ballots for the Gujarat Assembly elections, which began today early morning, now shows Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading on 42 seats, while the Congress leading on six seats.

After an hour of counting, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was discovered to be in the lead on four seats. The Election Commission’s official figures till 9.15 a.m. indicated trends in 52 Assembly seats out of a total of 182.

BJP’s current chief minister Bhupendra Patel was leading in the Ghatlodiya assembly seat with 7869 votes. According to the EC, Patel ran against Amee Yajnik of the Congress, who had 1166 seats, and Vijay Patel of the AAP, who had 488.

Gulabsinh Ratansinh Padhiyar of the BJP was leading from Anklav by 1,738 votes, while Congress’ Amit Chavda was lagging.

Ishvarbhai alias Anilbhai Ramanbhai Parmar of the BJP was leading from Bardoli, while Pannaben Patel of the Congress was lagging by 2,418 votes.

Hardik Patel, who is running for the Viramgam seat against Amarsinh Anadaji Thakor of the AAP, was down by 169 votes at the time.

Prior to the start of the counting, Patel, who switched from Congress to the BJP, projected that the BJP will win between 135 and 145 seats in the state.
