Founder and Managing Director of iTV Network, Kartikeya Sharma, has been elected to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana.
The elections for two Rajya Sabha seats in Haryana were a plot twist, with contestants reaching out to Independent MLAs at the last minute, even as the lone Indian National Lok Dal MLA, Abhay Singh Chautala, declared his support for Kartikeya Sharma, who had entered the fray as an Independent candidate backed by the BJP-JJP coalition and most Independents.
Prior to the announcement of these results, Sharma had written to the Election Commission of India, requesting that the votes of Congress MLAs Kiran Choudhry and BB Batra be cancelled due to “violation of the secrecy of voting in the Conduct of Election Rules 1961.”
