Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Bikram Singh Majithia was granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday in connection with a case filed against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in December 2021.
He is now being held in the Patiala Central Jail. Majithia was arrested under the relevant parts of the NDPS Act on suspicion of being involved in a narcotics ring in the state.
On February 24, he surrendered to the Mohali Court.
He requested that the Punjab and Haryana High Court grant him regular bail in the case filed against him under the NDPS Act in December 2021.
After a Mohali district court rejected his plea to quash an FIR against him he had approached the Supreme Court, which on May 11, refused to entertain the plea and asked him to instead approach the High Court.
