For years it has been suggested that eggs are excellent choices to promote hair health and reduce the rate of hair thinning. They also provide protein, vitamins, and minerals necessary for the nutritional support to promote better strength and rate of normal growth. Hair is made up mainly of keratin, which is a fibrous type of protein that makes up the hair shaft. Eggs are a complete source of protein, it is important to eat adequate amounts of protein to minimize hair thinning and hair breakage.

Egg yolks also have sulfur and biotin which can help hair follicles grow and scalp health. Biotin is recognized for its role in keratin production and promoting stronger/better quality hair. It is also known that eggs have zinc and vitamin D, which will promote the health of the oil glands, and possibly provide growing hair follicles causing old properties to reactivate.

Egg yolks will promote water soluble peptides, and may assist with hair growth by possibly stimulating the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) to induce blood vessels around the hair follicles to grow.
