On the basis of confidential information, a team from Karimganj district began an operation at Kabariband hamlet under Patharkandi police station on Sunday night and collected 49 soap cases carrying 690 grammes of heroin from a residence owned by Jamil Uddin. However, one of the suspects, Jamil Uddin, escaped the scene.

According to Partha Pratim Das, Additional Superintendent of Police for the Karimganj district, the confiscated narcotics were disguised inside an LPG cylinder.
