Himachal elections result: Initial trends show BJP leading at 13seats

Election Commission's preliminary trends indicate the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading on 13 of the 68 assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh, while the Congress leads on 11 Assembly seats.

The Election Commission’s preliminary trends indicate the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading on 13 of the 68 assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh, while the Congress leads on 11 Assembly seats.

According to the most recent Election Commission of India report, the BJP is leading in eight seats with 44.14 percent of the vote, while the Congress is leading in six seats with 42.18 percent of the vote.

However, two independent candidates from two different seats are in the lead. According to the ECI, the Aam Aadmi Party received 0.65 percent of the votes cast in the hilly state, while the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) received 0.32 percent and the Communist Party of India (CPI) received zero percent.

Meanwhile, preliminary results indicate that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) might garner 0.42 percent of the vote.

The vote counting began at 8 a.m. on Thursday.

There are 68 counting halls spread throughout 59 sites in Himachal.  

Elections for 68 assembly seats in the state were held on November 12 with around 75.6 percent of eligible voters voting.
