Since Friday morning, the income tax department has been conducting raids in Ranchi, Bermo, Patna, and Godda at various sites associated with Jaimangal Singh and Pradeep Yadav.
Income tax raids were ongoing at the homes of two Congress MLAs, Jaimangal Singh and Pradeep Yadav, according to sources familiar with the situation on Friday.
Singh told reporters from his official residence in Ranchi that he is being targeted because he is an opponent of the BJP.
“IT is raiding my properties in Ranchi, Bermo, and Patna.” I’ve heard that they’re also conducting a raid on another politician. “Anyone who is not a member of the BJP will face raids,” Singh added.
Bermo legislator Jaimangal Singh, the son of Congress veteran and former minister Rajendra Singh, had previously filed a complaint against the three Congress legislators who were arrested in Kolkata on July 30 with cash for allegedly attempting to destabilise the Hemant Soren-led state government in collusion with the BJP.
Pradeep Yadav is a five-term Poraiyahat legislator and a former Lok Sabha member from Godda. Yadav was elected in 2019 on the platform of Babulal Marandi’s JVM(P), but afterwards joined the Congress after Babulal merged his party with the BJP.
