A new record was set by India on Sunday when it delivered more than 2 billion doses of the COVID vaccine, months after the statewide immunisation campaign was launched on January 16, 2021.

Within nine months (October) of the start of immunisation effort, nation had provided 1 billion doses. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Health Minister spoke at the event and said that India has set an example for the world.

“We are proud that India has provided more than 2 billion doses of COVID19 vaccine to date. Only after 18 months have we managed to accomplish such a challenging goal, “added Mandaviya.

He further stated “India has not only reached a new milestone by giving out 200 crore doses, but we have also demonstrated a fresh approach in a time when many nations across the world are still battling the COVID pandemic. I commend the healthcare professionals and the people for this accomplishment.”

Union Minister also posted on Twitter shortly after India reached 200 billion immunisation milestone and stated, “17th of July 2022 will always remain a special day. #200CroreVaccinations”.

In order to guarantee protection against COVID-19, Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Health Minister, on Friday officially opened the “Covid Vaccination Amrit Mahotsav” at the Covid Vaccination Camp in Nirman Bhawan.
