India and Israel signed a “vision statement” to commemorate 30 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries, which will pave the way for future defence collaboration.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Israeli colleague Benny Gantz met today in New Delhi for bilateral talks. The two presidents talked about defence cooperation as well as the current global and regional situation.
Rajnath Singh took to Twitter to say, “In New Delhi, I had a pleasant and constructive discussion with Israel’s Defense Minister, Mr. Benjamin Gantz. During the bilateral discussion, major issues relating to defence cooperation as well as global and regional scenarios were discussed. Our Strategic Partnership with Israel is extremely important to us.”
He went on to say “It’s great that both countries adopted a “vision statement” that will set the road for future defence collaboration. Both countries have reached broad agreement on the need to deepen bilateral strategic and defence cooperation.”
Gantz, who arrived in India on Thursday, was greeted by a Tri-Service Guard of Honour and placed a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi in the presence of Rajnath Singh.
“At the National War Memorial, I am honoured to begin my tour to India by paying tribute to dead soldiers and learning about the country’s history. This is a significant homage as we approach the 30th anniversary of our countries’ growing relations and defence connections” Benny Gantz stated in a tweet.
Minister Gantz of Israel came in India yesterday. The visit was supposed to happen in March, but it was postponed.
