India to grant e-visas to over 100 Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan on priority

Following the attack on the Karte Parwan Gurdwara in Kabul on Saturday, India has decided to provide e-visas to over 100 Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan on a priority basis.

The decision was made late last night, according to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) sources. Meanwhile, Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISKP) claimed responsibility for the attack on Kabul’s Karte Parwan Gurdwara on Sunday.

ISKP claimed credit for the incident in a statement. The three-hour attack was carried out by ‘Abu Mohammed al Tajiki,’ stated ISKP.

In addition to submachine guns and hand grenades, the organisation claimed that four IEDs and a vehicle bomb were utilised in the attack.

It was also alleged that over 50 Hindu Sikhs and Taliban militants were slain in the incident, which was carried out in retaliation for an Indian politician’s disrespect of Prophet Mohammed.

Two persons were murdered and seven others were injured in the incident.

According to initial reports, an explosion occurred outside the Gurdwara’s gate, killing at least two individuals. Later, another explosion was heard from inside the complex, and several of the Gurdwara’s stores caught fire.

In Afghanistan, religious minorities, notably the Sikh minority, have been targets of violence.
