At CWG Village in Birmingham, Indian flag was raised the night before Commonwealth Games 2022 Opening Ceremony.

At CWG Village in Birmingham, Indian flag was raised the night before Commonwealth Games 2022 Opening Ceremony.

Indian men’s and women’s hockey teams participated in the flag-raising ceremony at CWG Village on Thursday along with other participants.

Rajesh Bhandari, Chef de Mission for Team India, raised the flag in front of Indian Olympic Association’s (IOA) acting president Anil Khanna, treasurer Anandeshwar Panday, Deputy Chef de Mission for the Games Anil Dhupar, and other IOA officials.

Manpreet Singh, team captain for the men’s hockey team, and Olympic gold and top shuttler PV Sindhu, both from India, will carry country’s flag during the Opening Ceremony.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham will take place from July 28 to August 8. 215 competitors from India will compete in 141 events in 19 different athletic disciplines.
