In the light of the importance of India-Israel defence ties, ambassador Naor Gilon said that defence cooperation between the two sides is long and successful and that Tel Aviv is very happy to be a strong partner in areas like UAVs, rockets, missiles, and whatever defence system is needed by New Delhi.

Gilon stated that after serving as Israeli ambassador to India for a year, ties between the two countries are highly cordial and Tel Aviv is working on the flagship Make-in-India programme.

“Defense cooperation has a very long history and has been highly fruitful. Our relationships have been cordial for many years, even before they became such. Israeli businesses are attempting to adapt to the Make-in-India programme.

Israel may be a very significant participant in the Make-in-India strategy if it joins together with other extremely strong local businesses, which the top firms are doing. We believe the strategy is sound “He responded to the query on the defence ties between India and Israel.

The Israeli ambassador emphasised the need to be independent and stated that nobody will show up to provide protection today.

“If the events in Ukraine and other places have taught us anything, it is that nations must be self-sufficient and prepared to stand and defend themselves. No one will show up to defend anyone in modern society. From the very beginning, we had this view of Israel. This is something that more and more nations are realising.”

India’s attempt to become self-sufficient is a wise decision, according to the Israeli envoy, and Tel Aviv will be pleased to assist New Delhi in this endeavour.

“Everything is a wise step if India wants to be as self-sufficient in technology as it can be. Israel is happy to collaborate and is a strong partner in UAVs, rockets, missiles, and any necessary defence systems “he said.

Ambassador Gilon praised the current leadership in India and stated, “I have served as an ambassador and diplomat in a number of nations, but I have never witnessed such widespread support. And then there are the fantastic government-to-government ties. Overall, I had a wonderful time.”

In reference to the I2U2, the envoy stated: “I2U2 was made in the last year. Building infrastructure would enhance everyone’s life, say India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. There will be two lovely enterprises in India.”

“I believe India scores highly in the Middle East due to its strength and the fact that its businesspeople are quite powerful in the gulf nations, particularly in the UAE. In the triangle formed by the UAE, India, and Israel, you are the spearhead. I believe there is enormous potential there “he said.
