A day after raising the Kashmir problem at the UNGA, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu and discussed Cyprus. External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar.

On the second day of the UNGA, on Wednesday, Jaishankar and Cavusoglu had a lengthy discussion that touched on a variety of topics, including the situation in Ukraine, food security, and Cyprus.

The negotiations take place while the UN works to end the conflict between the Turkish Cypriot north and the Greek Cypriot south, whose populations have been divided since 1974, in Cyprus, where tensions have existed for decades.

In his presentation to the high-level UN General Assembly meeting on Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan brought up the Kashmir problem and called for the development of a “fair and durable” peace and prosperity in Kashmir.

“After establishing their sovereignty and independence 75 years ago, India and Pakistan still haven’t built mutual respect and cooperation. This is quite regrettable. We fervently wish and pray for Kashmir to experience lasting peace and prosperity “During the general debate, Erdogan added.

Erdogan’s comments follow a meeting he had with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Samarkand, which was held in conjunction with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.


The two leaders discussed recent regional and international developments involving their respective nations.
