A migrant labourer from Bihar succumbed to his injuries, while two others were heavily injured after a grenade was hurled in Pulwama, police said. Coincidently, the attack happened on the eve of the third anniversary of the annulment of Article 370.
Terrorists hurled grenades at migrant labourers at Gadoora Village in the Pulwama district.
Authorities were able to identify the dead labourer as Muhammad Mumtaz of the Sakwa Parsa area of Bihar. The heavily injured labourers were identified as Mohammad Maqbool and Mohammad Arif, also residents of Bihar. The condition of both the labourers is reported to be stable as of now.
The statehood and special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir were revoked on August 5, 2019.
Ever since that, migrant labourers have been the target of the terrorists. Post this series of attacks on Kashmiri Pandit employees and employees from J&K are not actively attending their duties in the valley. Amid all the attacks, employees resorted to shifting out of the state as they feel unsafe in the valley.
The office of Lt. Governor of J&K issued a statement strongly condemning the act, and extended condolences to the family of the deceased labourer. The statement also read that strong actions will be taken against this despicable attack.
