The “Tanu weds Manu” actor’s debut solo directing effort is “Emergency.” She previously co-directed the 2019 period drama “Manikarnika,” her second biography following the critically praised “Thalaivii,” in which she played J Jayalalitha, the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
