According to ANI citing sources, while Siddharamaiah will be appointed Chief Minister, Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar will be appointed Deputy Chief Minister. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for May 20 in Bengaluru.
According to sources, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will extend an invitation to opposition leaders to attend the swearing-in ceremony in Bengaluru, and the Gandhis, Congress chief ministers, and senior Congress leaders will attend.
The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief, Shivakumar, has written to all legislators, inviting them to a meeting of newly-elected MLAs, MLCs, and MPs today at 7 p.m. at the Indira Gandhi Bhavan on Queen’s Road in Bengaluru.
According to sources, Congress President Kharge worked until late Wednesday night to break the political impasse over the next chief minister and reach an agreement on government formation.
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has dispatched Central Observers to Bengaluru to oversee the CLP Meeting.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up, and banners have been placed outside Congress leader Siddaramaiah’s home.
The Congress won 135 seats in the 224-member Karnataka Assembly elections on May 10, defeating the ruling BJP, which received 66 seats and the Janata Dal (Secular), which received 19.
