Mohammed Fazil, a 23-year-old man, was killed by a group of attackers on the Krishnapura-MRPL route in Mangaluru, Karnataka, on Thursday.

In order to maintain peace and order and in view of the killing of a Muslim boy on Thursday, the Mangaluru Police has asked all Muslims in the city to hold Friday prayers at home.

Mohammed Fazil, a 23-year-old man, was killed by a group of attackers on the Krishnapura-MRPL route in Mangaluru, Karnataka, on Thursday. After the event, which took place late at night on the outskirts of Mangaluru, Sec. 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code was implemented in the Surathkal, Mulki, Bajpe, and Panambur regions. The deceased had a clothing store and lived in Mangalpete, a town close to Surathkal.

According to the Police, 4 unidentified criminals attacked Fazil with a lethal weapon. He was rushed to a hospital but he succumbed to his injuries, police said. The murder was recorded on CCTV cameras outside and inside the store.

According to media reports, preliminary police-led investigations showed that the dead was murdered because he was in love with a Shia woman while Mohammed Fazil was a Sunni Muslim. Near the deceased’s clothing store, the criminals arrived in a car, murdered him, and then drove away. Also, liquor stores have also been closed down on Friday.

When asked about the investigation, the police commissioner said, “We are taking up a complaint of an eyewitness who was with the deceased during the incident and a case of murder in Surathkal police station.”

After the post-mortem examination, Fazil’s body was given to his family and then taken on foot to the Mangalpet Muhiuddin Masjid in the presence of heavy police.
