Veena George, the state’s health minister, has ordered a high-level probe into the death of a young man who exhibited monkeypox-like symptoms. The young man was from Chavakkad Kuranjiyur in the district of Thrissur and tested positive in another country.

“The result of the test conducted in the foreign country was positive. He sought treatment in Thrissur due to severe fatigue and encephalitis and Monkeypox is not a fatal disease,” said George. She said that delay in seeking treatment will be investigated.

The health department convened a conference in Punnayur following the death of a young man from suspected monkeypox.

Meanwhile, a contact list and a road plan for the dead adolescent have been created. It is recommended that contact people be isolated.

Notably, India has documented five instances of monkeypox thus far, three of them are from Kerala, one from Delhi, and one from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh.

Following this, the federal government is on high alert, despite the fact that the number of illnesses in some other nations has increased.

Dr V K Paul, NITI Aayog’s member (Health), stated that there is no reason for concern because the government has taken substantial steps to combat the disease.
