Congress dismissed MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi from all party positions on Saturday

After the Congress dismissed MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi from all party positions on Saturday, he took a shot at the party, claiming that the party’s rules applied only to some leaders and that there were exceptions for others.

He sent out a tweet saying “Some leaders are subject to restrictions, while others are exempt. The application of rules is done on a case-by-case basis. In the past, indiscipline was routinely ignored. In my instance, I followed my morals and listened to my soul.”

He also emphasized the party’s failure to act on other important opportunities.

“They wouldn’t be in such bad straits if @incindia had responded this promptly & aggressively in 2016 and on every other key opportunity they’ve wasted,” he wrote in another tweet.

Bishnoi was removed from all party positions, including his membership in the Congress Working Committee, when he cast a cross-vote in the Haryana Rajya Sabha elections (Special Invitee).

The expulsion came after Congress nominee Ajay Maken was defeated by media baron Kartikeya Sharma, a BJP-backed independent candidate, in the Rajya Sabha elections by a “narrow margin,” a big upset for the grand old party, which had been certain of winning the seat.

On June 10, Haryana voters went to the polls to elect two members to the Upper House of Parliament. Krishan Lal Panwar of the BJP won by a comfortable margin of 31 votes, leaving Maken and Sharma to fight for the second seat.
