The former Bihar CM claims to have booked a flight to Delhi to Delhi to file his nomination papers on June 15. Yadav had competed for the Presidential election against Kovind back in 2017 as well.
Lalu Prasad Yadav intends to run in the forthcoming presidential election, believing that a Bihari must run. He is not, however, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
The former Bihar CM claims to have already purchased a plane ticket to Delhi, where he aims to file his candidacy papers on June 15th.
He had also registered candidacy papers in 2017, when the election was between then-Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind, who went on to win, and former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, a resident of the state. Yadav told PTI over the phone that his paper was rejected the last time because there were not enough proposers. However, he claims to be better prepared this time than he was the prior time.
The Election Commission announced on Thursday that India’s presidential election will be held on July 18th, with 4,809 members of the electoral college, including MPs and MLAs, voting to elect Ram Nath Kovind’s successor.
The Election Commission has established that all presidential candidates would require 50 proposers and another 50 seconders ahead of the election.
