David Miller redeems himself, winning the crucial clash against defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The left-handed batter scored the winning runs after the Capitals needed 13 runs in four balls. He struck a couple of sixes and a four in the final over from Romario Shepherd to win the game by six wickets.

It is Tristan Stubbs who has brought the Delhi Capitals back into this game. The South African batter scored a sensational half-century in 41 balls, anchoring the chase for his team.

This is the lowest team total RCB posted this IPL season. 

They finish on 175/8, but this looked like a 200+ total at one stage, especially with Phil Salt’s 63 off 38 setting things up perfectly. Even Virat Kohli and Tim David chipped in with 19 and 26 respectively but things just fell apart towards the end.

Delhi Capitals completely flipped the game in the last 5 overs, just 29 runs and 4 wickets. The final two overs were even tighter, only 8 runs, and that run-out + Jitesh dismissal summed up the chaos. Jitesh never got going (14 off 20), and that really hurt RCB’s finish.

No, there was magic done by KL Rahul and Lungi Ngidi instead. Ngidi fires it down the leg side, it’s called a wide. Krunal Pandya is forced into a run he clearly didn’t want, hesitates, and KL Rahul is lightning quick behind the stumps.

Things have slowed down a bit for RCB as aim to corss 200. Delhi Capitals are doing a good job chasing the leather.

Rajat Patidar falls for 8 (4) as Mukesh Kumar gets the big fish. RCB 132/4 in 12.5 overs. Tim David is still out there and he looks dangerous. He’s already on 17 off just 8 balls and is in that hit everything mode. Jiteshe Sharma has just come in and survived a sharp yorker first ball.

Tim David has announced himself on the crease in some fashion. The Aussie batter has scored 16 runs from the first seven balls he faced, hitting a couple of fours and a six. 

Right after the break, DC has managed to dismiss both set batters from the RCB camp. After Axar Patel got the better of Padikkal, it was Kuldeep Yadav who got the big wicket of Phil Salt. The English batter was dismissed by Kuldeep in the 11th over after scoring 63 runs in 38 balls. 

Axar Patel brought himself into the attack right after the timeout and struck in his very first over. The left-arm spinner dismissed Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal scored 18 runs in 13 balls, hitting a four and a six each during his stay at the crease. 

Phil Salt reached his second fifty of the season in only 30 balls. The English batter struck a huge six on the second ball of the ninth over. It was Kuldeep Yadav who was on the receiving end of the massive six from Salt. 11 runs came from the ninth over as a strategic timeout was called.

Phil Salt has been going pretty strong despite Virat Kohli falling early in the first innings. The English batter is five runs away from a well-deserved fifty and is joined by Devdutt Padikkal at the crease. RCB batting first at home have raced to 79/1 in eight overs. T Natarajan’s first over went for 14 runs with Salt hitting a four and a six by Padikkal.

Ah, sad but big moment in the game. Lungi Ngidi dismisses Kohli with his very first ball. The RCB batter tries to take him on but mistimes it, and Pathum Nissanka makes no mistake in the deep.

Kohli departs for 19 off 13, and the Chinnaswamy crowd suddenly goes quiet for a moment. Devdutt Padikkal now walks in.

The weather in Bengaluru is currently quite hot and sunny, although around 70% cloud cover has been reported over the city. However, as things stand, AccuWeather suggests that there is no rain expected for the remainder of the match, and that comes as a relief for both teams and fans.

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel wins the toss and opts to ball first against RCB. 

Virat Kohli is still not fully fit at the moment. He scored a solid 49 off 34 balls in the last match against Lucknow Super Giants and even held the Orange Cap briefly before it was taken over by Shubman Gill. However, Kohli himself admitted after the game that he has been dealing  with knee pain for the past few days. As a result, the team has avoided using him in the field in the previous matches.

A similar approach is expected today as well. While he may not take the field, Kohli is still likely to feature as an Impact Player, just like he did in the last game.
