Stock Market Today Live Updates: Good Morning Readers!

Welcome to a brand-new month — and the final trading day of the week! Before the markets open, here’s a quick question for you:

Did you know India has not one, but two major stock exchanges?

That’s right. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), established way back in 1875, is Asia’s oldest. On the other hand, the National Stock Exchange (NSE), launched in 1992, has grown to lead in daily trading volume and turnover.

Ever heard of the Nifty 50 or Sensex?

  • Nifty 50 tracks the top 50 companies on NSE.

  • Sensex follows 30 well-established firms on BSE.

And behind it all is SEBI, the Securities and Exchange Board of India, which has been regulating the markets and protecting investor interests since 1992.

Which index do you track more closely — Nifty or Sensex? Let us know in the comments.

Stay tuned for live market updates throughout the day!

Stock Market Today Live Updates: US to Implement New Global Tariffs Starting August 7- Here Are The Latest Updates

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing new tariffs on imports from 68 countries, including India, effective August 7. Tariff rates range from 10% to 41%, as part of Trump’s “reciprocal” trade strategy aimed at addressing trade imbalances but causing tensions with longtime allies like India. The tariffs’ implementation was delayed to August 7 to give customs and border agencies sufficient time to prepare for the changes. The order covers the 27-member European Union, with unspecified countries facing a default 10% tariff. Officials say the delay is procedural, ensuring effective rollout of the new tariff system.

Stock Market Today Live Updates: Trump’s Tariff Exemptions Confirmed; Market Eyes Sectoral Impacts

Trump’s Tariff Exemptions Hold

The White House confirmed on August 1 that all previously announced tariff exemptions under Executive Order 14257, issued on April 2, 2025, will remain in effect. This executive order had outlined exemptions for a wide range of critical imports including copper, pharmaceuticals, lumber, critical minerals, automotive and auto components, steel, and aluminium. While these products are exempt from reciprocal tariffs, they may still be subject to sector-specific tariffs, depending on trade policy developments.

The clarification has eased some concerns in global markets, particularly for exporters in these sectors. However, uncertainty remains around how future U.S. trade actions might impact sectoral tariffs. Indian markets are watching these developments closely, as several domestic companies have exposure to affected sectors, especially in metals, auto parts, and pharma. Investors are advised to monitor global cues and tariff-related updates, which could influence near-term market sentiment and sector performance.
