Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who travelled to Kargil on Monday to celebrate the holiday of lights with soldiers stated that Diwali is the festival of the ‘end of terror’. He said that Kargil had made this possible.

While speaking with soldiers, Prime minister said: “For many years now, all of you have been my family. Spending Diwali in Kargil with our valiant soldiers is an honour.”

He added saying “The backbone of India’s security is its troops. I’m wishing the people of my country and the entire globe a very happy Diwali from this triumphant land of Kargil. There has never been a conflict with Pakistan in which Kargil hasn’t raised the winning flag. Diwali’s significance is the cessation of Atank (fear), and Kargil made this possible.”

“Our army defeated terror in Kargil. I had the good fortune to be present. I’m pleased that my old pictures were presented to me here” he further stated.

For several years now, Prime minister has participated in the event alongside the troops.

Prime Minister in 2019 spent Diwali with soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri area, close to the Line of Control (LoC). He praised the military for defending the borders even during holidays and referred to them as his family.
