The Punjab Police have apprehended culprit Sachin Thapan Bishnoi in Azerbaijan, while the whereabouts of another primary accused, Anmol Bishnoi, have been traced to Kenya, in two important developments in the Sidhu Moosewala murder investigation. Before the incident on May 29, both had departed India on forged passports.
The Punjab Police and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) were working quickly to extradite Sachin to avoid any legal complications, according to police officials who confirmed the news.
In a message to the Punjab Police, the Ministry of External Affairs requested all information about the accused, including his criminal past, arrest warrants, and participation in the Moosewala case, in order to expedite the extradition. Officials claimed attempts were being made to apprehend Anmol, the brother of mobster Lawrence Bishnoi, who has been named as the case’s mastermind.
The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), commanded by ADGP Pramod Ban, AIG Gurmeet Chauhan, and DSP Bikramjit Brar, they alleged, had tracked Anmol’s movements. The AGTF and Mansa police are also said to be preparing extradition paperwork for Sachin.
Sachin and Anmol are two of four criminals who were reportedly engaged in the shocking homicide and were hiding out in foreign countries. Goldy Brar and Lipin Nehra are the other two.
According to police, Lawrence Bishnoi obtained phoney passports for his brother Anmol and close buddy Sachin as part of a well-planned scheme to safeguard them.
The Regional Passport Office in Delhi issued the passports. According to the officials, Lawrence intended the couple to coordinate and carry out the crime from overseas without being observed or held accountably.
Anmol is facing 18 criminal charges and was just freed on parole from the Jodhpur prison on October 7, 2021. Sachin is also wanted for 12 felony crimes.
