After releasing cheetahs into the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked Namibia for its assistance, saying it would not have been possible without it.

When speaking to and praising Indian citizens, PM Modi remarked, “Cheetahs have returned to our territory after a long absence. I want to congratulate everyone from India on this historic day and also express my gratitude to the Namibian administration. Without them, this would not have been possible.”

An MoU was inked earlier this year with the Namibian government to bring eight cheetahs in an effort to save the already extinct cat species.

PM Modi added, “We have the opportunity to re-establish the centuries-old connection between biodiversity, which was severed and rendered extinct decades ago. Along with these cheetahs, India’s nature-loving awareness has also fully awakened.”

He furher went on to say “Although we officially proclaimed cheetahs extinct in the nation in 1952, no significant attempt was made to restore them for many years. The government has begun rehabilitating cheetahs with fresh vigour as we mark Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav today.”

Additionally, cheetahs will aid in the restoration of India’s open forest and grassland ecosystems, assist to preserve biodiversity, and improve ecosystem services including soil moisture conservation, water security, and carbon sequestration.

“For India, sustainability and security are not the only considerations for nature, the environment, animals, and birds. It also serves as the foundation for our spirituality and sensitivity. India of the twenty-first century is demonstrating to the rest of the world that the sectors of business and ecological are not incompatible “PM Modi stated.

When giving advice to tourists and individuals planning visits to Kuno National Park in order to see recently moved cheetahs, Modi suggested that they postpone their plans for a few months in order to give the newcomers to the park some time to adjust to their new surroundings.
