On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the concluding event of the ‘En Mann Ek Makkal’ padayatra in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu. He is all set to participate in the programme ‘Creating the Future – Digital Mobility for Automotive MSME Entrepreneurs’ in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate two major projects designed to support and uplift MSMEs in the Indian automotive industry. The initiatives include the TVS Open Mobility Platform and the TVS Mobility-CII Centre of Excellence. These are a step towards achieving the goals set by the Prime Minister of promoting the expansion of MSMEs nationwide, aiding in their formalization, integration into global value chains, and fostering self-sufficiency.
Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of Outer Harbor Container Terminal at VO Chidambaranar Port at the public programme at Thoothukudi. The establishment of this container terminal marks a stride toward converting V.O. Chidambaranar Port into a transshipment hub for the East Coast.
The project intends to capitalize on India’s extensive coastline and advantageous geographic position, enhancing India’s competitiveness in the global trade landscape. Additionally, this significant infrastructure endeavor will stimulate job creation and foster economic development in the area.
Under the Harit Nauka initiative, Prime Minister will also launch India’s first indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel. The ship is produced by Cochin Shipyard, representing a groundbreaking initiative to adopt clean energy solutions and adhere to the nation’s net-zero objectives.
Prime Minister will also allot tourist facilities in 75 lighthouses across ten States/UTs during the programme. During the event, the Prime Minister will inaugurate rail projects aimed at doubling the Vanchi Maniyachchi – Nagercoil rail line, which includes the Vanchi Maniyachchi – Tirunelveli section and the Melappalayam – Aralvaymoli section. With an investment of approximately Rs 1,477 crore, this doubling project will decrease travel time for trains traveling from Kanyakumari, Nagercoil, and Tirunelveli to Chennai.
Prime Minister will also devote four road projects in Tamil Nadu, developed at a total cost of about Rs 4,586 crore.
The projects consist of the expansion to four lanes of the Jittandahalli-Dharmapuri section of NH-844, the addition of paved shoulders to the Meensurutti-Chidambaram section of NH-81, the four-lane enhancement of the Oddanchatram-Madathukulam section of NH-83, and the addition of paved shoulders to the Nagapattinam-Thanjavur section of NH-83. These endeavors are geared towards enhancing connectivity, cutting down travel duration, fostering socio-economic development, and easing pilgrimage trips in the area.
