On Monday, the Special NIA court declined to hear mobster Lawrence Bishnoi’s plea that he feared a false encounter with the Punjab Police after his name was linked to the murder of musician Sidhu Moose Wala.
Bishnoi is on trial and faces many charges under the MCOCA. A day after Punjab Police removed the security of 420 persons, including Moose Wala, the singer-turned-politician was shot dead in the Mansa region of Punjab. Bishnoi had taken ownership of the situation.

The appeal, filed by Special NIA Judge Praveen Singh of Patiala House Court, sought an order directing Tihar jail authorities to provide prior notice to the court and not to hand over Bishnoi to any state police, including Punjab.
The applicant’s MCOCA trial would be hampered if his custody was given to police from other states, according to the request filed by attorney Vishal Chopra.
Lawrence Bishnoi is one of the defendants in the MCOCA case, which is now being heard by the Special Judge of Patiala House court. He is now imprisoned at Tihar.
In a Facebook post on Sunday evening, Canadian criminal Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for Moose Wala’s murder. Goldy Brar is a close ally of gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, who is also suspected of murdering the singer.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who has been chastised by opposition leaders over the event, has announced a judicial investigation into the assassination of musician Sidhu Moose Wala under the supervision of a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
A judicial committee will investigate the murder case, according to the Chief Minister.
“CM Bhagwant Mann announces to set up a judicial commission under the sitting judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court to probe the killing of Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala,” Punjab Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said in a tweet.
Punjab Police have registered an FIR against unknown persons after Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jawaharke village of Mansa district.
The FIR has been registered under sections 302, 307, and 341 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at City-1 at Mansa Police Station.
